Concept 3.0 Is Here - Major Update


Concept 3.0 is the culmination of about a year's worth of work, and most likely the last major release of this game before I try and bring it into true production. Thank you to all of you for taking the time to try this experience, I'm legitimately honored and can't tell you how much I appreciate you giving this weird platformer from a no-name developer a chance. If you would like, I can continue to post progress on the game on this page, and I intend to release the "final" version of the game on Itch when the time comes. 

Now, for the general changelog:

Major Updates

  • Two Endgame Levels: Discover the secrets of The Greenhouse and Extraterrestrial Defense, four levels that incorporate new and existing mechanics into challenging platforming worlds
    • Two short introductory challenges, followed by two "main quest" levels
    • A final challenge for extraterrestrial defense is in the works, but unfortunately I was unable to complete it in time for the jam this game is being released for. In a final version of the game, I will have an additional floor to complete 
    • If you have played this game before and just want to see the new content, these levels can be found in the secret section of the library
  • New Main Character Sprite: Thanks to the talented Jael Alonso, a new sprite specific to Concept has been integrated for The Curator that fits much better with the game
  • Enhanced Swing Feedback: A number of changes have been made to grapple mechanics, including:
    • Grapple Blocks will now be highlighted when they are eligible to be grappled 
    • Initiating a swing from the ground is now possible. Jumping or running off an edge will initiate 
    • Swinging into the ground will end the swing 
    • Grapple ropes now adapt to player's hand position 
    • Grapple pulls now animate based on swing angle 
  • Resolution Scale-Up Fix: Concept now operates at 1440x1080, and all aspects of the game have been scaled to fit the better resolution
  • Level Reworks: A number of small challenges throughout the game have been improved based on player feedback
    • Several challenges on the Mainframe have been reworked
    • Several challenges in Gravitational Management have been remade 
    • Tweaked speeds of many platforms and deathzones 
  • General Quality of Life and Bug Fixes: Dozens of bugs have been fixed across all levels, and a number of frustrating aspects of the game have been reworked to be a more seamless experience
